Description

This listening exercise, although not specifically written with OCR ‘A’ Level Specification H543, AOS 1 in mind, nevertheless affords the opportunity to practise some of the skills required. It focuses primarily on the identification of keys, chords and cadences in this early Beethoven piano sonata,  as well as including some melodic dictation. The “Answers, Notes and Observations” contain extensive tips and explanations of concepts such as what constitutes a closely-related key, diminished 7th chords, suspensions etc. Ideal to set as a class exercise if you are not going to be around or for self-study.  To ensure my students read and fully engage with the “Answers, Notes and Observations”  I let them know that I will be testing their knowledge of this material at the beginning of the following lesson.
